Narrative:
On Sunday, February 19, 2012, at 7:03 p.m., Austin Police officers responded to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 3000 block of Guadalupe Street. 

A preliminary investigation shows that a 1999 Lexus RX3 was traveling southbound on Guadalupe Street and veered into the center lane striking a 2011 BMW 28i.  The Lexus then continued southbound, veered off the roadway and struck two pedestrians.  The pedestrians were on the sidewalk on the east curb of Guadalupe Street. 

The pedestrians were transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge.  Dik Van Meerten was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The 21 year old female pedestrian sustained serious injuries. 

The driver of the Lexus has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, a 2nd Degree Felony, $30,000 bond, and Intoxication Assault, a 3rd Degree Felony, $25,000 bond.
