Effective November 1, 2011 The Turner Roberts Recreation Center will temporarily close until further notice.

The Turner-Roberts Recreation Center has an environmentally friendly trait that features renewable building materials, energy-efficient heating, and a northern and southern exposure building orientation to maximize energy savings.

During the temporary closure of the Turner-Roberts Recreation Center, the Department's priority is to continue providing quality holistic programs that meet the needs of the community. Currently, the Department is also providing transportation for seniors to participate in programs and services offered at nearby recreation centers. The Department also provides transportation from Turner-Roberts Recreation Center to Barbara Jordan Elementary School for structured after school programs and will continue this service until the recreation center reopens. The Department is developing a long term plan to provide alternative free recreational opportunities and transportation for youth in the community. Programs will be offered at other recreation centers. Staff is also working on development of a partnership with the Austin Independent School District to offer programs and services at their facilities.
