Opening the door to opportunities.

The purpose of the Small & Minority Business Resources Department is to administer the minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises (MBE/WBE) Procurement Program as established by City Council in 1987.

The City’s MBE/WBE program is intended to:

• Promote and encourage MBEs and WBEs to participate in business opportunities with the City of Austin;
• Afford MBEs and WBEs an equal opportunity to compete for work on City contracts; and
• Encourage bidders to provide subcontracting opportunities to certified MBEs and WBEs by soliciting  firms for subcontracting opportunities.
