A Pool/Spa Permit and Plan Review Application must be submitted along with payment for any of the following:
- Pool/Spa Plan Review
- Permit to operate
- C.O. Inspection/C.O. Re-inspection (new pool/spa installations)
- Late Fee (assessed when permit renewal payment is made after the permit expiration date)
- After-Hours Inspection
- Re-inspection of a Routine Annual Inspection (existing pools/spa)
New Permits
When a change in property ownership occurs, the new owner must pay the annual permit to operate fee, request an inspection, and obtain a new permit to operate prior to operating the swimming pool/spa.
Permit Renewals
A permit renewal is mailed to the last known billing address of the owner or responsible party on file approximately one month perior to the permit expiration date. Failure to receive a renewal application does not relieve the owner or responsible party of their legal responsibility to ensure their permit to operate has not expired.
Fees
If a re-inspection is required to ensure that any imminent safety or health hazard is corrected, a fee of $100 is charged. A late fee of $100 (per property) is required if payment of the permit is made after the expiration date. For previous years of past-due permits, the total amount due must be paid before a permit will be issued.
Renewal Application
It is important to complete the entire form accurately, including the current mailing address, responsible party, establishment name or phone number. Incorrect information may result in late fees or pool closure if a permit is not issued.
Testing Water Quality
As per City Ordinance, the water quality for semi-public pools/spas (not including pools open to the general public or competitive event pools) must be tested for appropriate disinfectant levels and pH. Records must be retained for at least one year. See Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 265 below for specific testing requirements.
Swimming Pool/Spa Standards
See Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 265 for rules regarding safety standards for specific safety features and structural requirements.
