Programs
Accidental injuries are the leading cause of death among Texans ages 1-44; motor vehicle crashes account for the majority of these deaths.
Three programs work toward preventing accidental injuries: Child Passenger Safety, which holds child safety seat checks at events and neighborhood centers; Bicycle Safety, which provides training and bicycle helmets to children; and Safe Routes to Schools, which encourages children to walk and bike safely to school.
