The Office of the City Auditor reports to the City Council and presents its completed work to the City Council for committee acceptance through the Audit and Finance Committee.
Chapter 2-3-9 of the Austin City Code establishes an Audit and Finance Committee that consists of four or more Council Members selected by the City Council. The Audit and Finance Committee's purpose is to assist the City Council in carrying out its oversight and improvement responsibilities as they relate to the city's financial and performance reporting practices, internal controls, compliance with laws and regulations, and initiatives to improve the performance of city services.
Audit and Finance Committee meetings are held monthly in public forum and the City Auditor prepares the monthly agendas for the committee. Visit the Council Meeting Information Center to view an agenda, minutes, backup documents, and video of a particular meeting since 2010.
