Chief of Staff Anthony Snipes

Anthony J. Snipes was appointed Chief of Staff in June 2008. Since January 2012, Snipes oversees the staff of the City Manager's Office, Building Services, the Communications and Public Information Office, Fleet Services, Government Relations, the Small and Minority Business Resources Department and Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs.

Before arriving in Austin, he served as the Assistant Director of Business Services for the Fort Worth Water Department. In this capacity, Snipes led more than 170 employees in the areas of Customer Service, Conservation, Meter Services, Water Information Technology and Public Information. He served as the Senior Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Fort Worth, where he was employed since 2001. While in Fort Worth, he also served as the Interim Human Resources Director for 11 months after the retirement of the Director.

His areas of expertise are budgeting and performance management, public/private partnerships and organizational development. In his 19-year career in the non-profit and government sectors, he's also worked for the cities of Dayton, Ohio, and Tallahassee, Fla., Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council, as well as an internship with the Florida Legislature.

Snipes earned a bachelor's degree in political science and sociology from Mercer University in Atlanta and a master's degree in public administration from Florida State University.
